Amended: Meritus Making Good Progress With Winter Drilling Program At Gutain Davaa

Vancouver, B.C.: Meritus Minerals Ltd. (OOTC:MERMF) (TSXV:MER) (MML)(TSX-V - MER) advises it is making good progress with its winter drilling program at the Toordogiin Shil Prospect, on its wholly owned Gutain Davaa Project in Mongolia.

Drilling commenced on 17th December 2010. So far 8 holes have been completed in the program which will involve a minimum of 2000 metres of diamond drilling. Most of the holes in this program are directed at extending the mineralized zones to the north of, and down dip from previous intersections. Reports from site advise that interesting zones of altered granodiorite with disseminated sulphides and quartz sulphide veins have been intersected in zones from 2 to 8m wide in 5 of the holes.

Meritus has established a new core cutting facility in a large warehouse in Ulaan Baatar and after preliminary logging on site most core is being taken to Ulaan Baatar for detailed logging, core cutting and sampling. The purpose of this facility is to enable core cutting and sampling to take place under much better conditions than are available at site, and to speed up the flow of samples to the laboratory.

In another development Meritus has collected a large sample of oxidized and partly oxidized float from a limited area on top of the ridge which the mineralized zone crosses. This material is representative of the oxidized and partly oxidized gold mineralized veins that occur in the upper near surface parts of the Toordogiin Shil Prospect. A second large sample has been collected from a surface exposure of the high grade Ninja Vein. These two samples will be used for preliminary metallurgical tests. They are not representative of the whole deposit but they will provide useful information on gold recovery in the near surface oxidized and partly oxidized zones.

Assay results have been received from the last six holes of the first drilling program.

Hole TSD033, which was drilled at the northern end of the zone, encountered drilling difficulties and was terminated at 166m before reaching target depth.

The other five holes were positioned to give information on the width of the corridor that contains the Toordogiin Shil mineralization. All five holes intersected narrow zones of mineralization thus indicating that the east-west width of the corridor containing mineralization is not yet defined.

The nature of the mineralization is such that any one of these zones may increase in width and/or grade down dip or along strike.

Results are listed in the Table below. Note TSD 022A is a redrill from the position of TSD022 that was abandoned due to drilling problems at 19 metres.
